Pokemon GO is introducing Gen 7 favorite Minior through a series of timed events that sync up with real-world meteor showers spanning from October 2026 through August 2027.
Pokemon GO is leaning heavily into the real-world aspect of its design by tying the upcoming debut of the Gen 7 Rock and Flying type Minior to actual astronomical events. As reported by Game Rant, a series of limited time events called Minior Showers will roll out starting this October and run through August 2027, perfectly matching major meteor phenomena like the Orionids, Leonids, and Perseids. During these active windows, players will see shooting stars rendered directly in the in-game sky while hunting down the elusive creature in the wild.
Minior brings some interesting tactical depth to the mobile title thanks to its unique mechanics. The Pokemon features seven distinct Core forms alongside its initial Meteor form, and it can shift between them mid-battle depending on its health pool. Dropping below fifty percent health flips the stats from high defense to high attack, though this form-shifting is currently restricted to the GO Battle League or fights against Team Rocket and team leaders. Capturing these event spawns also yields bonus Stardust, giving players a solid progression incentive to log in during the scheduled windows.
Beyond the astronomical crossover, Niantic is keeping the live service momentum strong with a packed roadmap heading into late 2026 and early 2027. Between the current Twilight Trails season introducing creatures like Bramblin via GO Pass tasks, upcoming community days featuring Zorua, and the newly announced dates for GO Tour 2027, the mobile phenomenon continues to treat its massive cross-platform community to a steady stream of content that keeps players moving.
