Pokemon Go has launched its Mega Ascension event with a detailed raid schedule, boosted wild spawns, and a deluxe Go Pass leading into the Mega Finale weekend.
Polygon reports that Pokemon Go has kicked off its Mega Ascension event, running from August 31 through September 6, to set the stage for the upcoming Pokemon Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale weekend. Trainers can dive into a packed daily raid schedule featuring heavy hitters like Mega Dragonite, Mega Latios, and both forms of Mega Raichu in regular Mega Raids. While these encounters skip the frustrating shield mechanics of Super Mega Raids, they also yield less Mega Energy, shifting the focus toward efficient roster building before the weekend hits.
The update also rolls out some notable mechanical additions, including Adventure Effects for Mega Mewtwo and an extra charged attack for Pokemon capable of hitting Super Max Level. Alongside the raid rotations, players will see boosted wild spawns for key unevolved species like Dratini, Skarmory, and the Kalos starters, giving communities plenty of material to grind while coordinating group sessions in their local areas.
Naturally, the event comes bundled with the Go Pass: Mega Finale, which offers perks like increased Link Charge storage right out of the gate. Upgrading to the deluxe track for $14.99 unlocks extra shiny rates, additional candy, and XP boosts for raid participation. Even with a paid pass on the table, the progression curve is flexible enough that players can easily knock out ranks by grinding catches and weekend raids during the main event hours.
