Pokemon Go Launches Horizons Celebration Event With Goggled Starters And Go Pass Rewards

Pokemon Go's latest anime tie-in event introduces a costumed Charmander wearing Professor Friede's goggles, alongside a new Go Pass, themed raids, and time-based spawn pools.

Pokemon Go is leaning into its anime roots once again with the return of the Pokemon Horizons: The Series Celebration event, running from September 16 to 22. As reported by Polygon, this year's iteration puts the spotlight on a special Charmander wearing Professor Friede's iconic goggles. Players can hunt down this costumed starter through wild encounters, regular Lure Modules, and specific Field Research tasks. For those who want to skip the grind, evolving this event Charmander all the way up to Charizard is fully supported, and you can even encounter the fully evolved Charizard directly in three-star raids.

The event also brings back the familiar Go Pass structure, allowing players to rank up through standard activities like hatching eggs, winning raids, and catching Pokemon. Progression yields various encounters and temporary perks, such as double catch candy and extended Lure Module durations. A deluxe track is available for a few bucks if you want to accelerate your progression with Premium Battle Passes and Rare Candy XL. Daily snapshot photobombs add a few extra chances at special encounters too, making it a busy week for mobile collectors.

Time-based spawn rotations keep the map dynamic throughout the week, featuring different encounters depending on whether you are playing during the day or night. From Cap's hat Pikachu to Hatenna and Rockruff, the boosted rates give active players plenty of reasons to spin stops and clear research tasks. It is a straightforward tie-in update, but it delivers the exact kind of themed content and cosmetic variants that keep mobile communities logging in daily.
