Pokemon GO Brings Gen 9 Favorite Orthworm to April's Steeled Resolve Event

Pokemon GO has announced that Gen 9 Steel-type creature Orthworm will make its debut during the Steeled Resolve event running from April 28 to May 4, launching alongside its shiny variant and featuring boosted Steel-type spawns and bonuses.

Pokemon GO is keeping its spring momentum rolling as it approaches its milestone tenth anniversary. Niantic recently confirmed that the Gen 9 Steel-type creature Orthworm will make its official debut during the upcoming Steeled Resolve event, which runs from April 28 through May 4. Instead of hiding behind standard wild spawns or lengthy egg hatching tasks, Orthworm will drop directly into 3-star raids. Even better for dedicated collectors, Niantic is bucking its usual rollout strategy by releasing Orthworm alongside its shiny variant right out of the gate.

The upcoming week will heavily spotlight Steel-type monsters across multiple gameplay loops, giving both casual mobile players and hardcore grinders plenty of reasons to fire up the app. Alongside the raids, players using a Mystery Box during the event will see reduced cooldown timers and an increased chance of encountering shiny Meltan. Wild spawns will feature boosted rates for heavy hitters like Magnemite, Aron, and Pawniard, while field research and 1-star raids bring encounters with fan favorites like Honedge, Shieldon, and Beldum.

On top of the raid schedule, the event introduces a limited GO Pass titled Steeled Resolve Taken Over. Progression through this pass rewards active players with double candy for every catch, adding extra incentive to get out and walk. As mobile titles continue to lean into seasonal content models and frequent updates to maintain player retention, this latest drop offers a rewarding way to bridge the gap toward summer.
