Pokemon GO Adds Costumed Dittos in Upcoming Pokopia Celebration Event

Pokemon GO has announced a new Pokopia Celebration Event featuring two costumed Ditto variants and boosted spawn rates for classic fan-favorite species.

Pokemon GO is gearing up for another major tie-in, officially announcing the Pokemon Pokopia Celebration Event to mark the launch of Pokemon Pokopia. Niantic is leaning into the community's favorite tradition of themed avatar variants by introducing two brand-new costumed versions of Ditto. Players will soon be able to track down and catch Dittos wearing hats and caps modeled after the male and female protagonists of Pokopia, adding another unique collectible to the game's ever-expanding roster of event variants.

Alongside the headline-grabbing Ditto variants, the celebration will feature heavily boosted spawn rates for several fan-favorite species. Classic staples like the Gen 1 starters, Pikachu, Sudowoodo, and Zorua will appear much more frequently in the wild. Players can also expect increased PokeStop activity during the event window, giving the community plenty of incentives to get outside and coordinate routes with local groups.

This update arrives right on the heels of a busy period for the mobile giant. Following the recent Carnival of Flamigo and upcoming plans for the Blipbug evolution line during March's Bug Out event, Pokemon GO continues to maintain a relentless seasonal cadence. For a game that functions as a daily social habit and an outdoor gathering space for millions of cross-platform players, these themed events keep community engagement high while bridging the gap between different corners of the broader franchise.
