Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are finally getting Pokemon Home compatibility on October 6, allowing players to migrate their catches and claim a level 50 Celebi reward.
As reported by Game Rant, players who picked up Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch will soon be able to migrate their catches to Pokemon Home. When the classic titles launched on the platform back in February, they moved over four million copies, but left fans frustrated by a major limitation. The Switch versions lacked online compatibility, meaning players had no way to transfer their team members to newer entries in the franchise.
The Pokemon Company has confirmed that a Pokemon Home update scheduled for October 6 will finally bridge that gap. The maintenance window runs from 5:00 pm PT to 11 pm PT, after which players will need to update the app to begin transferring. There is a traditional one-way restriction in place, meaning any Pokemon sent to Home from these versions cannot be returned to the original save file, so players should double-check their boxes before moving valuable team members out.
To celebrate the rollout, trainers who have already completed their Pokedex in FireRed or LeafGreen will receive a level 50 Celebi directly in the mobile version of Pokemon Home without needing to deposit any catches first. With this long-awaited integration finally arriving, the community is already turning its attention toward potential ports of Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, hoping that future legacy drops bring cloud ecosystem support from day one rather than months down the line.
