Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Finally Get Home Support and a Free Celebi

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are getting Pokemon Home support in October, allowing players to register their catches and unlock a free Celebi via the mobile app.

As reported by GameRant, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 ports of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are finally receiving long-awaited Pokemon Home compatibility this coming October. Ever since these classic RPGs dropped on modern hardware, players have pointed out the hurdle of completing their Pokedexes without native transfer tools, especially since Gen 3 titles are technically required to bridge the gap for the National Pokedex. While the upcoming update will allow players to log their caught critters straight into Pokemon Home without needing a physical transfer, the real headline for collectors is a completely free Celebi distributed through the mobile app.

There is a slight catch for completionists, as the update will only allow transfers out of the ports rather than into them, meaning certain classic bottlenecks remain in place. Even so, the timing heavily fuels speculation that companion ports for Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald could be right around the corner for October. Giving away Celebi via the Home mobile app is a smart workaround for a Mythical Pokemon that would otherwise remain out of reach for these specific versions.

For players working on their Kanto rosters, the silver lining is that the base Pokedex requirement only asks for the first 150 entries, meaning you can secure your progress without needing every elusive event monster. Post-game events still let players hunt down heavy hitters like Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Deoxys directly in the game. If you want to claim your free Mythical reward once the October update drops, just make sure your game is synced up with the mobile app and ready to go.
