A fresh content update for Pokemon Champions introduces the Gen 8 starters from Sword and Shield alongside a massive wave of new Pokemon, Mega Evolutions, and meta-shifting items.
As reported by GameRant, the competitive scene for Pokemon Champions is getting a major shake-up. The latest roster and item update officially welcomes back Generation 8 starters Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon, alongside a massive wave of new combatants and mechanical additions that will heavily influence current meta strategies.
The update introduces 22 new Pokemon, seven alternate forms, and six brand new Mega Evolutions, including formidable new variants for Golisopod, Baxcalibur, and Absol. Alongside these heavyweight additions, competitive players now have access to 18 new items like the Rocky Helmet and Air Balloon, plus a helpful new interface feature that alerts players when their active Pokemon holds a type advantage or disadvantage in battle.
The return of Rillaboom is a particularly massive development for team builders. Its ability to automatically set up Grassy Terrain upon entering the field opens up powerful new synergies, especially when paired with the newly introduced Terrain-specific seeds. Whether these additions can completely reshape competitive team building remains to be seen as players dive into the fresh update.
