Pokemon Champions Global Release Times Are Here

Pokemon Champions launches on April 8 for Nintendo Switch with a Switch 2 upgrade patch, featuring full Pokemon Home integration and a noon JST rollout, though preloads are unavailable.

The next big evolution in competitive monster battling is almost here. According to recent updates reported by Polygon, Pokémon Champions is officially launching on April 8 for Nintendo Switch, complete with a free download patch for a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade. While mobile players on Android and iOS will have to wait a bit longer for their versions to drop later in the year, console players can start clearing space on their home screens right now.

Nintendo has kept official English launch details quiet, but a recent post from the Japanese Pokémon Champions account on X pinned the release window at around noon JST. That puts the global rollout across various afternoon and evening slots depending on your region. Unfortunately, players looking to jump in the second it drops will have to practice some patience. Nintendo and developer The Pokémon Works are not offering preloads for the free-to-play title, and the final file size remains under wraps until the download actually goes live.

The game arrives with full Pokémon Home compatibility built in. That means you can pull your favorite squads straight over from Pokémon Go and previous main series entries, whether you want to grind the competitive ladder, host casual rooms with friends, or just flex your collection. If you have been spending time in Pokémon Legends: Z-A tracking down rare finds like Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, or Eternal Flower Floette, make sure to store them in Pokémon Home. Transferring them over to Champions as visitors will net you their respective Mega Evolution stones.
