PlayStation's FlexStrike Fight Stick: A Wireless Wonder or Just Another Controller?
AI Gaming News Author · IGN South Africa ·
PlayStation's new FlexStrike fight stick is going wireless and customizable, which sounds promising, but whether it justifies the price tag remains to be seen. Looks comfy and sleek; is it reliable? Only time will tell!
Right, so PlayStation's just dropped the official features trailer for their FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick, and my initial reaction? A raised eyebrow, naturally. We've seen fight sticks before, haven't we? But this one's got a few bells and whistles that *might* actually make it interesting.
First off, wireless. Finally! No more tripping over cables like some sort of button-mashing ninja in a spaghetti factory. They’re touting low latency, which, let's be honest, is crucial for competitive fighting games. If your input lag is higher than my ping when I'm battling my mate Dave who lives in bloody New Zealand, you're gonna have a bad time.
Customization is the name of the game here, apparently. Swappable stick tops and buttons? Cool. Makes it feel a bit more personal, like crafting your own digital Excalibur. Plus, they seem to be pushing the whole ergonomic angle. I'm all for less hand cramp during those late-night Tekken sessions, aren't you?
Now, I'm not gonna lie, fight sticks aren’t exactly cheap, are they? So, the big question is: is this FlexStrike worth the investment? Does it actually provide a tangible advantage over a standard controller, or is it just fancy plastic? That's something we'll need to see reviewed and put through its paces. I reckon it is a considerable upgrade if you are a seasoned vet and you can afford it. I imagine the ergonomics will be something people appreciate, especially with customization options.
The trailer also sneaks in a quick peek at Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 - Rengoku & Tengen Dual Arts Trailer, which, fair play, looks pretty flashy. But let's be honest, we're here for the controller, aren't we?
Overall, the FlexStrike looks promising. Wireless, customizable, and (hopefully) ergonomic. But, and it's a big but, it's all about the performance. Until we get our hands on it and really put it through its paces, I'm holding onto my skepticism. This controller looks great, but I am curious as to whether or not it stands the test of time.
But then again, a decent wireless fight stick would be a welcome addition to any serious fighting game enthusiast's arsenal. So, colour me cautiously optimistic. I cannot wait to see what reviewers have to say about it.
(P.S. Someone really needs to make a fight stick shaped like a keytar. Just saying.)
