PlayStation State of Play Delivers Remakes, Sequels, and Surprise Drop

Sony's February 2026 State of Play featured major reveals, including God of War remakes, a shadow-dropped 2D prequel, release dates for Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation, and a PC port for Death Stranding 2.

Sony packed a full hour of announcements into the February 2026 State of Play, offering a massive slate of updates for cross-platform players, console loyalists, and streaming fans alike. The showcase closed with a major nostalgia drop by confirming that the original God of War Greek trilogy is getting a full remake, paired with the immediate shadow-drop of a 2D prequel titled God of War: Sons of Sparta. Meanwhile, Game Freak locked down an August 4 release date for Beast of Reincarnation across PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X, highlighting a compelling adventure where your canine companion shares the spotlight.

Horror and action fans also got plenty to process. Konami and Annapurna Interactive gave us our first deep look at Silent Hill: Townfall, a terrifying first-person spin-off that leans hard into psychological dread. On the multiplayer front, Ghost of Yōtei: Legends is bringing a free four-class co-op experience on March 10, complete with a raid arriving in April. PC players won't have to wait nearly as long as usual for PlayStation exclusives either, as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach makes the jump to Windows on March 19.

Retro revivals and unexpected surprises rounded out the heavy-hitting broadcast. Digital Eclipse and Ubisoft announced the Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition, bringing the 1995 platformer to modern systems alongside a 50-minute documentary. Fans of classic dark fantasy can also look forward to remastered visuals in Legacy of Kain: Defiance and a brand-new 2D pixel art prequel, Legacy of Kain: Ascendance.
