PlayStation Plus Subscription Costs Rise Across All Tiers

Sony has raised prices for short term PlayStation Plus subscriptions across its Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers, though annual plan rates remain unaffected for now.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has implemented price increases across all tiers of its PlayStation Plus subscription service, catching many players off guard. The changes rolled out following an initial announcement on X that originally detailed new pricing solely for the entry level Essential tier. Subsequent updates confirmed that short term subscriptions for the Extra and Premium levels have also gone up in price.

A one month subscription for PlayStation Plus Extra now costs $16.99, an increase of $2, while the three month option has risen by $4 to $43.99.

Meanwhile, the top tier PlayStation Plus Premium has seen its one month price climb by $2 to $19.99, and its three month plan jump by $5 to $54.99.

For players who manage their gaming budgets through short term renewals or monthly top ups, these adjustments add up over time. Fortunately, annual subscription rates across all tiers remain unchanged for now, with Essential holding at $79.99, Extra at $134.

99, and Premium at $159.99 for a 12 month commitment. As subscription services become a permanent fixture of modern gaming ecosystems, price hikes continue to test player patience, especially when communication from platform holders lacks complete transparency about broad changes.
