PlayStation Plus Extra Expands September Lineup With Two New Additions

PlayStation Plus Extra has added Ball x Pit and Slitterhead to its subscription catalog, giving players two distinct new titles to try out this month.

PlayStation Plus has added two very different titles to its Extra catalog, continuing a busy month for Sony's subscription service. Subscribers can now jump into Ball x Pit and Slitterhead. This update follows a September lineup that already included major heavy hitters alongside a wide variety of indie favorites across subscription tiers.

Published by Devolver Digital and developed by Kenny Sun, Ball x Pit blends Breakout mechanics with bullet hell roguelike elements. Players clear oncoming blocks on a vertical screen while earning upgrades and returning to a town hub to purchase new buildings and abilities. The indie title earned a strong critical reception when it launched, making its arrival on the subscription tier an easy win for players who enjoy addictive arcade action.

On the other side of the spectrum, subscribers can now try Slitterhead, the horror action adventure game directed by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. Players take control of a possessed character trying to save a 1990s Kowloon from monstrous threats. While the game received a mixed critical reception at launch, joining the catalog gives curious players a low risk opportunity to experience the ambitious project for themselves, according to reporting by GameRant.

As subscription services continue to serve as a primary way for players to discover games outside of standard retail purchases, catalog refreshes like this keep the value proposition high. Five more games are slated to hit the service before the end of the month, giving players plenty of new options to add to their backlogs across console and cloud platforms.
