PlayStation Plus Drops October Perks While Call of Duty Phases Out Last-Gen Hardware

PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim a new Call of Duty bundle now, even as the franchise begins phasing out PS4 support for Warzone.

PlayStation Plus subscribers have a fresh batch of digital goodies waiting to be claimed ahead of the standard monthly lineup. Game Rant reports that the Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle, also known as PS Plus Pack 8, is available now at no extra cost for members across all subscription tiers. The pack includes a hefty selection of in-game cosmetics, featuring two Operator skins, four weapon blueprints, and various charms and animations that carry over into both Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

However, this drop comes with a notable caveat for players still holding onto older hardware. The new content cannot be used in the PlayStation 4 version of Warzone, signaling the beginning of the end for last-gen support in the battle royale staple. Sony and Activision are gradually moving past the PS4 era, with Warzone's PS4 client officially slated to shut down following the conclusion of Black Ops 7 Season 6. Players looking to keep up with future seasons and titles like Modern Warfare 4 will need to make the jump to current-gen consoles or PC.

Beyond the current Call of Duty bundle, October brings plenty more value to the subscription service. The standard monthly games arrive on October 6 with F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, accompanied by additional perks like an Overwatch pack later in the week. It is an interesting ecosystem where Microsoft-owned franchises continue to offer regular bonuses on Sony platforms, proving that platform rivalries take a backseat when it comes to keeping active communities fed with seasonal content.
