PlayStation 5 Firmware Update Drops Beta Status for Community Activity Widget but Drops Player Counts

The latest PS5 system update brings the Community Activity widget to the Welcome Hub for all users, though Sony quietly removed player count metrics seen in earlier betas.
Sony is rolling out a fresh firmware update for the PlayStation 5, pushing version 26.06-14.00.00 to all users following a month of public testing. According to reporting from Eurogamer, the update officially brings the Community Activity widget out of beta and into the console Welcome Hub. The feature splits into two distinct views, highlighting Trending Now multiplayer titles and regional Top 10 lists based on overall weekly play time and recent surges in matches.
While the public rollout makes the widget widely accessible, keen-eyed players noticed a significant omission from the final release. Earlier iterations tested during the beta phase displayed concrete player counts for listed titles, briefly sparking speculation that Sony might follow Steam in offering transparent telemetry. That specific metric has been scrubbed from the official launch version, leaving players with standard ranking lists instead of raw numbers.
Beyond social widgets, the latest system software carries over two technical additions from the beta cycle. Players using the PS5 Pro gain a dedicated toggle to enable PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaling by default, while certain regions also receive a console-level switch to completely disable Bluetooth. These quality-of-life adjustments round out a system update focused heavily on dashboard usability and hardware-level performance tweaks.
