Planet Zoo 2 Headed to PC and Consoles This October With Flight and Aquatic Species

Planet Zoo 2 is officially launching on October 13, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, bringing long-awaited flying and aquatic species alongside new global conservation mechanics.

Frontier Developments is officially bringing back its premier park management franchise, announcing that Planet Zoo 2 will launch on October 13, 2026. Following a series of teasers earlier in the week, the studio revealed that the sequel will land simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This day one console rollout is a major upgrade for the community, considering the original 2019 game took nearly five years to make the jump from PC.

The upcoming sequel leans heavily into fan requests by introducing fully integrated aquatic and flying species right out of the gate. This addition opens up entirely new avenues for complex enclosure designs and guest experiences. Frontier is also broadening the scope of gameplay by introducing external conservation mechanics. Players will no longer be limited to zoo walls, as the new system lets you restore natural habitats and release animals directly into dedicated wildlife reserves.

As expected for a sequel arriving seven years after the original, the visual fidelity has received a massive overhaul, while standard pre-order incentives and a Deluxe Edition upgrade offer early adopters extra building packs and bonus animals. Additional deep dives into the gameplay are already lined up for early June during the Wholesome Games showcase and the PC Gaming Show, giving management sim fans plenty to look forward to ahead of the autumn release window.
