Planet Zoo 2 Confirmed for October Launch With Fully Aquatic Animals and Birds

Frontier Developments has announced Planet Zoo 2, launching on October 13 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, featuring fully aquatic animals, birds, and new wildlife reserves.

Frontier Developments is officially bringing us a sequel to their beloved management sim, with Planet Zoo 2 scheduled to launch on October 13. According to reporting from Rock Paper Shotgun, the upcoming release is addressing some of the most requested features from the community by introducing fully aquatic species and free flying birds. Players will finally be able to design proper fresh and saltwater aquariums, complete with specialized filtration systems and diver access, alongside dedicated netted aviaries for species like the toco toucan.

The sequel is also introducing a brand new wildlife reserve system. This feature lets players focus on rewilding and observing natural habitats with minimal staff intervention while conducting conservation research to improve their overall park networks. As expected for a modern management sim, a deluxe edition is already lined up with six extra species, including hammerhead sharks and axolotls, though you can already add the standard game to your Steam wishlist right now.

For anyone who spent hundreds of hours perfecting enclosure paths and guest flow in the original game, this sequel is shaping up to be a substantial expansion of the formula. Cross platform players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S will not have to wait long to start building their dream marine and land sanctuaries.
