Pixar's Coco Is Making a Massive Comeback Across Gaming and Tabletop

Pixar's Coco is expanding into a major franchise with upcoming crossovers in Disney Lorcana and Kingdom Hearts 4, alongside a brand new movie sequel and theme park attraction.
Nearly a decade after hitting the big screen, Pixar's beloved animated feature Coco is stepping out of its standalone era and stepping into a full multimedia franchise. Polygon recently reported on Ravensburger showcasing the first official Coco cards for Disney Lorcana, which arrive as part of the music-themed Hyperia City expansion. These mechanics lean hard into the movie's themes, turning the discard pile into a literal Land of the Dead where memory and legacy dictate your play strategy.
Tabletop card games are only part of the revival. The Land of the Dead is also stepping up as a confirmed world in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4, where Sora will team up with Miguel and Héctor sporting a custom skeletal look and a guitar-shaped Keyblade. Given the narrative parallels between Sora's limbo state and the film's afterlife mechanics, it is a surprisingly natural fit for Square Enix's long-awaited sequel.
Disney is clearly ready to treat the modern classic with the same evergreen status usually reserved for heavy hitters like Frozen or Moana. Between the Lorcana cards, the upcoming Kingdom Hearts integration, a dedicated theme park ride, and a newly announced feature sequel slated for late 2029, the Riveras are officially taking over our screens and tables. It turns out that making sure a story is never forgotten applies just as much to corporate strategy as it does to the plot.
