Pinocchio's Gone Punk: PlayStation Plus August Lineup Brings Lies, Zombies, and Anime Fights

Sony's announced the PlayStation Plus games for August 2025, featuring Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One's Justice 2, plus some 15th-anniversary avatars to celebrate PS Plus's ongoing reign.
Right, so Sony's keeping the PlayStation Plus party going into August 2025, and it looks like they've pulled a few crackers out of the hat. The past month saw Diablo IV and King of Fighters XV grace the service, but they're making way for a slightly…eccentric trio, shall we say? And, seeing as it's the big 1-5 for PS Plus, expect some freebie avatars to slap on your profile. Apparently, Adam Michel, PlayStation's Director of Game Services, reckons they're 'excited' to reveal even *more* surprises. (Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen, eh?).
First up, we've got *Lies of P*. Now, I'll be honest, I wasn't entirely sold on the whole 'Pinocchio as a steampunk badass' thing at first, but it seems it's won over a fair few people. IGN gave it an 8/10, which, in review terms, is practically a standing ovation. So, if you fancy some Soulslike action with a wooden puppet with a serious attitude problem, this might be right up your street.
Then there's *DayZ*. Ah, *DayZ*. Remember when everyone and their dog was trying to make a zombie survival game? Well, this is one of the granddaddies of the whole genre. It's a proper hardcore survival experience, with 60 players all trying to stab each other in the back (or eat each other...depending on how desperate they are). If you fancy a bit of post-apocalyptic mayhem, DayZ could scratch that itch.
Rounding things off, we've got *My Hero One's Justice 2*. Now, I'm not the world's biggest anime buff, but I know a few people who are seriously into My Hero Academia. This is a 3D arena fighter sequel, so if you're a fan of the series, you'll probably get a kick out of beating the snot out of each other with your favourite characters. If you're not, you might just think it's a load of brightly coloured noise. Each to their own, I reckon.
Oh, and don't forget, you've got until August 4th to snag Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant before they vanish into the digital ether. So, get your skates on, mate!
