Polygon details the new combat features in Persona 4 Revival, including Baton Pass, Send Flying, and the powerful Prime Time mode ahead of its February 2027 release.
Atlus is giving one of its most beloved role-playing games a thorough modern upgrade. A recent features trailer for Persona 4 Revival, originally reported by Polygon, showcases a revamped combat system designed to bring the nearly two-decade-old classic up to speed with newer franchise entries. Rather than a straight visual touch-up, the studio is introducing mechanics that fundamentally alter how players approach turn-based encounters.
Among the biggest additions is the Baton Pass mechanic, which first popularized fast-paced tactical momentum in Persona 5 and later appeared as Shift in Persona 3 Reload. Players can now pass a turn to another party member whenever a One More is triggered. Alongside that familiar feature comes a brand new Send Flying mechanic, which lets players knock back enemies suffering from status ailments so they crash into other foes, spreading the debuff and dealing extra collision damage.
The centerpiece of the combat overhaul is Prime Time, a new meter-based mode that eliminates skill costs, ignores enemy resistances, and enables endless Baton Passes. Players can cap off this aggressive state with a cinematic Series Finale finisher. Beyond the battle system, Atlus is modernizing the social side of the game with fully voiced Social Links, newly added events, and a fresh soundtrack composition by Ryota Kozuka featuring vocals from Shiori Sasaki. Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
