Peacemaker's Making His Way to Fortnite, and Frankly, It's About Bloody Time

James Gunn announced that Peacemaker is coming to Fortnite as a skin, and the gaming world is wondering if his eagle will be a back bling. With new game modes and more DC characters potentially joining the fray, Fortnite is either going to become even more chaotic or collapse under its own weight of intellectual property – only time will tell.
Right, so James Gunn, the bloke who's basically running the DC universe at this point, just dropped a bombshell at San Diego Comic-Con: Peacemaker is headed to Fortnite. I know, I know, another crossover. But hear me out, this one actually makes a bit of sense.
According to Game Rant, Gunn himself announced that everyone's favorite (or least favorite, depending on your tolerance for extreme patriotism and questionable decision-making) anti-hero will be available as a skin in the Item Shop. No firm release date yet, but the rumour mill is churning, with some folks reckon it'll drop around the same time as Peacemaker Season 2 on HBO Max (August 21st). That’d be a fair bit of cross-promotion, wouldn’t it?
Now, remember when Superman swaggered into Fortnite as part of the Chapter 6 Season 3 battle pass? Well, Peacemaker's going a different route, hitting the Item Shop directly. Which means, you gotta cough up some V-Bucks to strut around as John Cena's…unique…character. Worth it? That's for you to decide, mate. (Personally, I'm holding out for Eagly as a back bling. Imagine the possibilities!).
But the DC invasion doesn't stop there! Game Rant also notes that whispers are going around about Vigilante potentially joining the fray alongside Peacemaker. Plus, with Cyborg and Robin already kicking about, Fortnite's basically become a Teen Titans reunion party. Who needs the Metaverse when you've got this?
And speaking of parties, Fortnite's also chucking a couple of new game modes into the mix on August 2nd, after the "Super Showdown" live event (which, by the way, sounds like it’ll involve Superman doing Superman-y things). First, there's Six Stack, letting you team up in groups of six in Blitz Royale. Sounds chaotic. Then, Pure Chaos promises increased siphon (whatever that is) and tougher opponents. So, you know, business as usual for Fortnite, then.
Honestly, I'm cautiously optimistic about all this. Fortnite's been doing the crossover thing for ages, but it's the *quality* of the crossovers that matters, right? Peacemaker's a genuinely interesting character, and the show is bonkers in the best way possible. If they get the skin right – and if they throw in a few Peacemaker-themed emotes – this could be a winner. Just don’t expect me to start wearing a chrome helmet anytime soon. Or maybe…
