Breath of the Wild voice actor Patricia Summersett expresses her desire to continue voicing Princess Zelda as the franchise approaches its 40th anniversary, embracing the idea that multiple versions of the character can coexist.
For millions of players jumping into the open-air era of Hyrule, Patricia Summersett has become the definitive voice of Princess Zelda. Having brought depth and vulnerability to the role across Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and various spin-offs, Summersett recently spoke with Nintendo Everything to share her thoughts on the character's future. As Nintendo slowly pivots away from the current timeline heading toward the franchise's 40th anniversary, the actor made it clear that she is not looking to step away from the role anytime soon.
Addressing the idea of passing the torch to a new voice actor, Summersett embraced the idea of coexistence rather than replacement. She noted that there are already many versions of Zelda shaped by hundreds of artists over the decades, meaning multiple interpretations can easily live side by side within a global community. While Nintendo has not yet detailed its casting plans for future mainline entries or upcoming anniversaries, Summersett's enthusiasm for the lore remains fully intact, even joking about staying up all night during recent real-world moon cycles.
As the community waits for Nintendo to drop hints during future Direct broadcasts regarding the next big project or the upcoming live-action movie adaptation, the actor's willingness to return highlights the strong connection between performers and modern gaming franchises. Players have come to view these digital performances as core parts of their favorite streaming and gameplay experiences, making continuity a welcome comfort. Whether Nintendo decides to stick with current casting or reinvent the royal lineage once again, Summersett has firmly cemented her legacy in gaming history.
