Path of Exile 2 is launching its The Last of the Druids update on Dec. 12, introducing the dragon-shifting Druid class, the Face of the Vaal seasonal league, and a temporary free weekend for all players.
Grinding Gear Games is gearing up for the next major phase of Path of Exile 2 with the upcoming release of update 0.4, titled The Last of the Druids. Scheduled to launch on Friday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. EST following its reveal during GGG Live, the update introduces the titular Druid class alongside a fresh seasonal experience known as the Face of the Vaal league. For players looking to jump back in, the seasonal server reset means starting fresh to conquer catacombs, build custom paths, and hunt down the Queen of the Vaal.
The star of the patch is undeniably the Druid, which brings traditional animal shapeshifting into bear and wolf forms alongside a brand new dragon transformation. Beyond the new class, Grinding Gear Games is overhauling the passive skill tree with over 200 new nodes while rolling out class balancing that will shake up the current meta. Thanks to the introduction of Animal Talismans tied to weapon types, other classes can also tap into aspects of the shapeshifting mechanics, opening the door for creative community theorycrafting and completely unseen builds.
Alongside the patch, the team is hosting the second free weekend for Path of Exile 2, running from Dec. 12 to Dec. 15. While the game remains in early access requiring a supporter key for regular entry, this event lets curious players dive into the action at no cost before the title transitions to its planned free-to-play model.
