Panline Brings Open World First Person Parkour That Channels Classic Mirror s Edge

Viridian Matters has announced Panline, an open world parkour game for PC that heavily channels the style and gameplay of Mirror's Edge while adding modern progression, a day and night cycle, and a retro handheld communication device.

For anyone waiting for a true spiritual successor to DICE's iconic first person parkour series, developer Viridian Matters has revealed Panline, an open world movement game launching later this year on PC. As detailed by Edwin Evans-Thirlwell over at Rock Paper Shotgun, the upcoming title captures the exact look, feel, and high altitude vertigo of Mirror's Edge. You play as a courier operating in a gleaming city governed by a system called the Civic Flow Engine, taking on gigs, mastering routes, and navigating a sprawling skyline using fluid slides, wall runs, and precise momentum.

Unlike its linear predecessor, Panline drops players into a fully open world featuring a dynamic day and night cycle. You operate out of a Runner Hideout where you can manage gear, secure upgrades, and plan your runs. The game leans heavily into modern progression mechanics, allowing you to invest in sturdier storage for valuable cargo and unlock new districts as you build your social reach and navigational skills. True to the courier theme, jobs range from quick handoffs to complex multi-stop deliveries where route planning and environmental awareness matter just as much as raw speed.

One of the standout pieces of equipment is the Panlet, an in-game handheld device heavily reminiscent of a PlayStation Portable that you use to hack urban infrastructure. You have to handle it carefully because taking a hard tumble during a rooftop escape can actually damage the device. Visually, the game swaps out the heavy use of red seen in Faith's original adventures for a starker, minimalist palette that gives the gleaming metropolis an eerie, liminal atmosphere. It is a sharp homage that modern PC players and streaming audiences alike should keep on their radar as release approaches.
