Blizzard is introducing Vendetta, also known as La Lupa, as Overwatch 2 Hero 45 in Season 20. The Italian damage hero brings a hard-light sword, high-mobility melee combat, and new lore tied to Talon when she launches in December.
Blizzard has pulled back the curtain on the next addition to the Overwatch 2 roster, introducing Hero 45 in a cinematic trailer that showcases a fighter built for close-quarters combat. Known as Vendetta or La Lupa, this Italian warrior wields a massive hard-light sword and is scheduled to debut this December at the launch of Season 20. Originally reported by Josh Broadwell at Polygon, the reveal gives players a first look at her gladiatorial background and hints at deep ties to the game's overarching lore involving Talon and the Colosseo arena.
From a gameplay perspective, Vendetta is shaking up the damage role by leaning entirely into melee mechanics. While heroes like Reinhardt feature ranged options and Brigitte relies on a mix of crowd control and support, Vendetta's kit appears focused on pure aggression. The trailer highlights her ability to hurl her sword across the battlefield before launching herself through the air to retrieve it and follow up on targets, offering a high-mobility playstyle that should appeal to flankers and aggressive skirmishers alike.
This release also marks a shift in how Blizzard handles post-launch storytelling and hero cadence. As the third new hero of 2025 following Freja and Wuyang, Vendetta brings the total number of playable damage characters to 20. With the development team placing a renewed emphasis on in-game lore menus and character backgrounds, players can expect plenty of narrative content alongside her arrival, providing fresh context for how she fits into the ongoing conflict.
