Ghost Town Games has announced Stage Fright, a narrative-driven co-op adventure releasing in Spring 2027 in partnership with Hello Games. The game shifts away from Overcooked chaos toward escape room puzzles and asymmetric teamwork.
Ghost Town Games, the studio behind the chaotic couch co-op hit Overcooked, has finally pulled back the curtain on its next major project. Titled Stage Fright, the two-player adventure is currently slated for a Spring 2027 launch. Following a five-year development cycle, the team is stepping away from the frantic kitchen setting to deliver a more narrative-driven experience. Game Rant reports that the game will feature split-screen and online play, allowing players to choose from a trio of characters named Drew, Blake, and Charlie.
While Overcooked built its reputation on high-pressure time limits and frantic panic, Stage Fright is taking a different route. The developers have designed the title around escape room puzzles and a long-form mystery, drawing inspiration from classic coming-of-age stories like The Goonies and Stranger Things, as well as the co-op dynamics of Luigi's Mansion. Players can expect asymmetric teamwork where communication is vital, particularly during moments that separate partners and assign individual objectives impacting the shared world.
For its publishing partner, Ghost Town Games has teamed up with Hello Games, the studio best known for No Man's Sky. When the game arrives in Spring 2027, it will launch on PC via Steam alongside a console exclusivity window for the Nintendo Switch. Retaining the beloved one-button accessibility of their past work while expanding into a larger, more involving saga, Ghost Town Games is positioning Stage Fright as a major appointment for duo gaming sessions across platforms.
