Survival crafting fans on PlayStation are getting a major win next month. Miju Games has officially announced that their breakout open world hit, The Planet Crafter, is making the jump to PS5 on July 21, 2026. The game has enjoyed an overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam since its initial early access launch in 2022, eventually surpassing two million copies sold on PC. For console players who have watched the survival genre thrive on PC and Xbox, this brings one of the most celebrated cooperative crafting experiences directly to Sony hardware.
Setting itself apart from many combat heavy survival titles, The Planet Crafter focuses on a peaceful and atmospheric loop of planetary terraforming. Players drop onto a hostile, barren world with a clear community driven objective: work together to generate heat, pressure, and oxygen to transform the planet into a lush, Earth like biome. You can tackle the terraforming process solo or squad up with up to seven friends in online coop. While developer Miju Games has noted that crossplay will not be available at launch, the sheer depth of the existing content makes it an essential pickup for cooperative gaming groups.
The timing of this console port is particularly interesting for survival enthusiasts. With upcoming titles like Subnautica 2 currently skipping PlayStation platforms for early access phases on other systems, The Planet Crafter fills a distinct gap in the current console ecosystem. It offers a structured progression path that avoids the aimless wandering common in the genre, giving groups a deeply satisfying long term project. Pricing is expected to mirror the PC version at around $23.99 USD, making it an accessible entry point for players looking for their next major multiplayer obsession.
