No Rest for the Wicked surges to the top of Steam charts after adding co-op multiplayer and a 40% discount, pushing concurrent players to nearly 63,000.
Moon Studios has found a massive second wind for No Rest for the Wicked. According to reporting by Polygon, the grim precision action RPG surged to the top of the Steam charts following the release of its long-awaited multiplayer co-op update on January 22. Concurrent player numbers nearly doubled, jumping from an early access baseline of around 36,000 to nearly 63,000. Studio CEO and creative director Thomas Mahler shared that the game has been moving roughly 50,000 copies per day, hitting a peak of 72,000 sales on January 26, heavily aided by a timely 40% discount.
The massive influx of players proves the enduring power of cooperative play in challenging genres. While the game initially launched in early access back in April 2024 to a warm reception, adding multiplayer completely shifts the experience. Players step into the role of holy warriors known as Cerim, navigating a plague-ridden world that requires careful combat strategy. Now, groups can tackle brutal dungeons together, share crafting and gathering loops, and build communities without the friction of intrusive microtransactions.
Currently available on PC through Steam and the Steam Deck, No Rest for the Wicked continues to refine its systems ahead of a planned 1.0 release later in 2026. Future console ports for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are also in the pipeline. For a community increasingly fatigued by monetization-heavy live service titles, the sudden surge of a pure, co-op focused ARPG shows just how hungry players are for straightforward, shared gaming experiences.
