Nintendo's New Donkey Kong Merch Has a Catch for Completionists

Nintendo revealed a physical Donkey Kong trading card set for players who complete the ongoing DK Challenge, but the late announcement leaves fans with a very tight deadline.

Nintendo is finally giving its most famous gorilla the spotlight he deserves in the Switch 2 era, but earning his latest physical merch requires some serious grinding. According to a report by Marc Deschamps at Game Rant, Nintendo has announced a physical 39-card trading card set as the ultimate reward for players who finish the ongoing DK Challenge. The catch is that fans only have until September 1 at 12:59 PM PST to meet all the requirements, and Nintendo only just revealed the physical reward weeks after the event kicked off.

The promotion tasks players with conquering specific obstacles across classic titles on the Nintendo Classics apps and current adventures like Donkey Kong Bananza. While completionists who have already beaten the game might have a head start, the sudden announcement has left the community scrambling to finish the list in a much tighter window than expected. On the bright side, the physical cards will not cost any Nintendo Platinum Points and feature classic franchise art stretching all the way back to the 1981 arcade original.

While it is frustrating that Nintendo kept the physical reward under wraps until late in the event, the campaign is a great win for fans who felt the character was sidelined during the original Switch generation.
