Nintendo is expanding its Switch Online classic catalog with the addition of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 alongside other retro Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles.
Nintendo is adding a fresh batch of retro titles to its Switch Online subscription service, headlined by the iconic Game Boy platformer Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. While the game technically serves as a threequel in the Mario Land series, it famously shifted the spotlight entirely to Wario, cementing his status as a leading antihero and establishing the gameplay formula that defined his own lucrative franchise. Subscribers will also get access to Sword of Hope 2, Fortified Zone, and Dr. Mario.
Beyond the original Game Boy lineup, the July update brings additional retro drops to the Game Boy Advance catalog on the service. These curation drops continue to be a primary draw for the platform, offering a legal, convenient way for modern players to experience foundational titles without hunting down vintage hardware or navigating the grey market.
While retro curation is always welcome, these monthly drops also highlight the ongoing conversation around digital preservation in the modern gaming ecosystem. As game accessibility increasingly shifts to subscription models and cloud libraries, having steady access to gaming history remains a priority for players.
