Nintendo has added four retro titles to the Nintendo Switch Online service, featuring Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 alongside two other Game Boy games and one Game Boy Advance title for Expansion Pack subscribers.
Nintendo is keeping its retro library growing this week by adding four classic handheld titles to the Nintendo Switch Online service. Subscribers diving into the catalog can now access a fresh batch of portable history, with Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 headlining the latest drop for the platform. This addition finally brings Wario's iconic platforming debut to the hybrid console, rounding out a selection that already includes several entries from his later handheld outings.
Alongside the main attraction, the base tier of the service gains two additional Game Boy titles. Players can check out Fortified Zone, a 1991 top-down action game that has players swapping between two mercenaries to infiltrate enemy bases, and Sword of Hope 2, a classic fantasy RPG utilizing point-and-click style commands. Meanwhile, subscribers on the higher Expansion Pack tier gain access to Dr. Mario Puzzle League for the Game Boy Advance.
While retro releases on subscription services often spark discussions about digital preservation and ownership, these curated drops remain an easy way for players to experience gaming history across modern hardware. As the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance libraries continue to expand on the platform, these additions give both nostalgic fans and younger players a solid excuse to revisit portable classics without digging out old hardware.
