Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware Revision Rumors Spark Debate Following Online Data Leak

A newly discovered model code in Nintendo's online portal has sparked online rumors about a potential Switch 2 Lite revision, though community members suggest the identifier could instead point to an upcoming Super Mario toy.
Speculation surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 is ramping up across social media after eagle-eyed users uncovered an unreleased hardware model code within the company's online infrastructure. According to findings originally shared by Bluesky user Dootsky.re and subsequently discussed on Reddit, the Nintendo Account Portal contains references to a mysterious model code labeled OSM. Because Nintendo has not yet officially addressed the discovery, the community is already split on what the identifier actually points toward for the platform's future.
Some community members suggest that the code could hint at an upcoming hardware revision, such as a hypothetical Switch 2 Lite designed to offer a more budget friendly entry point for players. This theory gains some traction when looking at current market conditions, especially since recent holiday sales saw a slight dip as shoppers navigate broader economic pressures and rising hardware costs. Even with heavy hitters like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond driving engagement, a streamlined and more affordable hardware option could help accelerate adoption rates for players who have not yet made the jump to the new generation.
At the same time, other community members urge caution and point out that the code might have nothing to do with a console revision at all. Alternative theories propose that OSM could stand for Oshaberi Super Mario, potentially pointing toward an interactive toy tied to the Talking Flower from Super Mario Bros. Wonder that is slated for release in spring 2026. As always with early leaks and forum speculation, players should take these findings with a healthy dose of skepticism until Nintendo provides official clarification.
