Nintendo has announced new Splatoon-themed Joy-Con controllers for the Switch 2, featuring blue and yellow accents inspired by Deep Cut and launching alongside Splatoon Raiders on July 23.
Nintendo is expanding the hardware lineup for its latest console, officially revealing a new set of Joy-Con controllers for the Switch 2 inspired by the Splatoon series. Set to release on July 23 to coincide with the launch of Splatoon Raiders, these controllers feature the sleek black base finish of the standard hardware paired with distinct blue and yellow accents around the thumb sticks and magnetic connections, drawing direct inspiration from the idol group Deep Cut. As reported by Game Rant, this release follows a tradition established during the original Switch era where major franchise entries regularly accompanied custom hardware drops.
For players deeply embedded in the Splatoon community, the July launch date is shaping up to be an expensive day. Nintendo is also releasing a new trio of amiibo figures alongside the game and controllers. While hardware variations for the Switch 2 have been relatively restrained since the console launched, this rollout proves that Nintendo is ready to lean into major software releases to drive peripheral sales. Special edition hardware has always been a great way for fans to show off their main fandoms, and these new colorways give players a stylish way to represent their favorite squid-kid universe on the go or docked at home.
Looking at the broader hardware landscape, limited peripheral drops remain one of the most reliable ways to build hype around major releases in modern gaming. Whether players are grinding matches on handheld or streaming sessions to followers on Twitch, custom controllers have become essential lifestyle accessories rather than mere input devices. Keep an eye out for pre-orders to open soon, especially if you plan on grabbing the complete bundle of game, controllers, and figures on day one.
