Nintendo is celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda with a custom Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Pro Controller and special edition console arriving this October.
Nintendo has officially pulled back the curtain on a brand-new Switch 2 Pro Controller designed around The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Revealed during a dedicated anniversary broadcast by Game Rant, the hardware drops just ahead of the game's November release and arrives as part of a massive 40th-anniversary celebration for the iconic franchise. The controller features a striking split aesthetic with one black grip and one green grip, accented by gold trigger buttons and a faceplate sporting the Hylian Crest. A subtle pixel sprite of Link on the back also nods back to the series' roots on the NES.
The hardware lineup also includes a special edition Switch 2 console featuring green Joy-Cons with Triforce patterns, alongside a matching carrying case. While special edition hardware is nothing new for Nintendo, this marks only the third variant of the Switch 2 Pro Controller to hit the market, and the very first based on a first-party franchise for the new platform. Fans grabbing the controller directly from the official store can even secure a limited-edition themed charging stand to complete the display.
Beyond the physical collector appeal, the hardware is built to support the modern mechanical updates coming to the Ocarina of Time remake. The updated game introduces modern conveniences like dedicated jump buttons, free camera movement in previously fixed locations, and even microphone-based ocarina playing. Paired with upcoming amiibo figures scheduled for release in 2027, the new controller gives long-time fans and newer players a stylish way to experience one of gaming's most legendary adventures all over again when it launches on October 29.
