Nintendo is raising the price of the Switch 2 to $499.99 in September, but is releasing Mario Kart World and Switch Sports Resort bundles to offer players slight savings.
Nintendo is preparing to raise the base price of the Switch 2 to $499.99 starting September 1. To soften the blow for players who have not yet upgraded, the company has announced two official hardware bundles launching over the next few months, as reported by Polygon. These packages aim to add some immediate value while offsetting the rising costs of current gen hardware across the industry.
The first option is the Mario Kart World bundle, arriving in late September for $549.99. It includes the console, a digital copy of the game, and a 90 day individual Nintendo Switch Online membership, giving buyers a modest savings of about $38. Following that on October 22, the Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle will hit shelves for $529.99 with a savings of $28. That package includes the console, the upcoming sports sequel featuring 12 different games, and another 90 day online subscription.
While hardware price increases are frustrating for the community, Nintendo is not alone in making these adjustments. Ongoing component shortages driven by massive demands for RAM and storage in generative AI manufacturing have squeezed consumer electronics. Consoles that would normally see price drops at this stage in their lifespans are instead seeing hikes, making these bundled packages the most economical way into the ecosystem for anyone looking to pick up a system this fall.
