Nintendo's Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct revealed a moody Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time, a themed console bundle, global orchestral concerts, and fresh collectibles.
Nintendo kicked off its 40th-anniversary celebrations for The Legend of Zelda with a dedicated Direct broadcast packed with hardware, collectibles, and a detailed look at the upcoming Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time. Originally sparking debate for its semi-realistic aesthetic earlier this year, the new version now leans into a moody, misty fairytale art style. It also introduces modern gameplay additions like a manual jump, full voice acting, and the option to hum ocarina tunes directly into the Switch 2 microphone ahead of its November 5 release date.
Beyond the software lineup, Nintendo revealed a special edition Zelda-themed Switch 2 hardware bundle sporting green Joy-Cons and a Triforce-inspired geometric pattern, arriving on October 29 alongside a matching Pro Controller and carry case. Fans of physical collectibles can look forward to a massive 1,750-piece Lego set featuring Link and Epona in spring 2027, an electronic Hasbro Master Sword, and a worldwide orchestral concert tour kicking off in Tokyo this January before heading to global stages.
The broadcast also touched on the upcoming live-action Zelda film adaptation hitting cinemas on April 30 next year, confirming it will simply be titled The Legend of Zelda with details on the plot still under wraps. As Nintendo continues rolling out anniversary content, players have plenty of new ways to engage with the franchise across consoles, live events, and digital ecosystems as one of gaming's most storied series hits a major milestone.
