A new gameplay video for The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake reveals modernized mechanics, dynamic day and night cycles, and overhauled visuals ahead of its November 2026 launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo has pulled back the curtain on the upcoming Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, giving players a detailed look at how the 1998 classic is being reimagined. Series producer Eiji Aonuma recently walked fans through fresh gameplay footage highlighting iconic locations like Kokiri Village, Hyrule Field, and Hyrule Castle Town. The video showcased completely overhauled visuals alongside modern quality-of-life adjustments that bring the foundational adventure firmly into the present day.
The update introduces several major mechanical shifts designed to modernize the moment-to-moment play. Players will now enjoy full camera rotation, manual jump inputs replacing the original automatic leaps, and dedicated dashing controls. Environmental interactions have also evolved significantly because time no longer stops inside towns, meaning dynamic day and night cycles will continue uninterrupted. Other additions include the Threads of Time system for tracking story progression, new dialogue, and environmental reactions when Link hums learned songs.
IGN South Africa reported that dungeon exploration within the Great Deku Tree also received the modernization treatment, showing classic puzzle solving and combat with the slingshot and Deku nuts. Fans eager to revisit Hyrule with these contemporary updates will not have to wait too much longer. The remake is scheduled to launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, setting the stage for a major holiday season release.
