New Trademark All But Confirms Lies of P Sequel Is Heading to Oz

A new trademark filing suggests the sequel to Lies of P will adapt the world of The Wizard of Oz, building on the post-credits tease from the first game.

Lies of P carved out a rare space for itself as one of the few Soulslike games outside of FromSoftware to genuinely capture the community's attention, moving over four million copies since its 2023 release. Developer Round 8 Studio and publisher Neowiz proved they could twist a classic fairy tale into something dark and compelling, and players have been waiting for details on the inevitable follow-up ever since the base game launched. Polygon recently reported that a fresh trademark filing with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for a game titled Wonders of O all but confirms where the franchise is heading next.

Fans who stuck around through the credits of the first game already received a heavy-handed hint about this direction. The post-credits scene revealed that the NPC known as Giangio is actually Philippus Paracelsus, who makes a mention of finding someone named Dorothy before the camera cuts to a figure walking across the rooftops of Krat in ruby slippers. Given how the first game adapted Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio while keeping its own distinct dark fantasy identity, this new filing suggests the sequel will take a similar approach to L. Frank Baum's classic books.

While Neowiz and Round 8 have not officially pulled back the curtain on the sequel, the studio has plenty of momentum behind the IP right now. The team followed up the base game with the Overture prequel expansion and recently brought the complete package to the Nintendo Switch 2. Whether the sequel sends our mechanical heroes down the yellow brick road or brings Oz characters straight into the grim streets of Krat, the community is ready for another round of brutal combat and gothic world-building.
