Tarae: The Unbound is an upcoming isometric ARPG on Steam that combines classic Diablo-style combat with Eastern mythology, deep class customization, and character designs reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima.
While Blizzard continues to support Diablo 4 with fresh seasonal updates and expansions, the isometric action RPG space is ripe for new challengers. Enter Tarae: The Unbound, an upcoming PC title published by Krafton and developed by Boundary that trades the grim gothic trenches of Sanctuary for a striking Eastern-inspired setting called Taegwido. Early footage reveals a familiar combat loop of clearing waves and hunting for gear, but the game injects its own identity through mythological beasts, intricate temple architecture, and a distinct aesthetic rooted in Asian folklore.
The game features six playable classes known as Seekers, each carrying personal lore and motivations tied to the restoration of the Six Realms. Solo players will not adventure alone, as companions join the journey to unfold these individual narratives whether you are playing by yourself or running online co-op. Standout character designs range from bell-wielding mystics to martial artists, though one specific swordsman is already turning heads for looking like a top-down tribute to Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima, complete with a familiar menpo half-mask and color scheme.
Beneath the surface, Tarae leans heavily into deep build customization through systems built around karma, reincarnation, and the Five Elements. Players select foundational traits focusing on melee, firearms, or mysticism before branching out into extensive skill trees and gear synergies. With demanding boss encounters requiring precise dodges and counters, this ambitious newcomer gives cross-platform ARPG fans plenty of reasons to add another title to their Steam wishlists.
