A new trailer for Star Wars: Maul, Shadow Lord reveals fresh narrative details, including potential apprenticeships, Inquisitor cameos, and Zabrak factions ahead of its April 6 Disney Plus premiere.
Lucasfilm Animation is expanding its corner of the galaxy with Star Wars: Maul, Shadow Lord, landing on Disney Plus on April 6. A fresh trailer for the series brings plenty of narrative hooks for fans tracking the criminal underworld, centering on Maul's ongoing quest to build a new empire on the planet Janix. Sam Witwer reprises his role, and the latest footage suggests that the former Sith Lord is looking for more than just muscle to take down Imperial forces. The trailer highlights a young Twi’lek Jedi named Devon Izara, sparking immediate community speculation about whether she might fill the role of Maul's apprentice, though her reptilian companion remains deeply skeptical of any alliance.
Lore enthusiasts have also spotted familiar faces among the antagonists and allies filling out the background. The footage features appearances by Inquisitors the Eleventh Brother and Marrok, placing the series firmly in the tense era following Order 66 and Revenge of the Sith. Meanwhile, new factions are entering the mix, including a squad of heavy-hitting Zabrak warriors that may be drawing from Nightbrother roots. As reported by Polygon, these character threads are opening up big questions about canon continuity and character fates before Maul eventually crosses paths with Ezra Bridger years later in Star Wars: Rebels.
For players and viewers who treat these interconnected transmedia universes as a primary entertainment staple, series like this offer a compelling dive into the gray areas of the Star Wars timeline. Between streaming platforms, tie-in games, and sprawling narrative canons, keeping up with lore drops has become a daily social ritual for modern fandoms. We will be watching to see how Maul's latest criminal venture shakes up the galaxy when the series premieres next month. Original reporting and details come courtesy of Polygon.
