A leaked statement from a newly appointed Saber Interactive executive points to a potential 2028 release window for the long-awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, while addressing community concerns over monetization.
Development on the long-awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has been a quiet affair since its initial 2021 reveal and subsequent reboot under Saber Interactive. Recent community anxiety flared up following the appointment of new Chief Business Officer Steve Allison due to his past industry history with monetization. However, a purported statement from Allison circulating online addresses those fan concerns directly while offering a surprising look at the studio's internal roadmap.
According to the leaked message, which surfaced on professional networking platforms, Allison clarified that his role focuses on expanding Saber's self-publishing capabilities and organizing future release slates rather than implementing aggressive microtransaction strategies. More importantly for RPG fans, the statement explicitly mentions a targeted 2028 window for the Knights of the Old Republic remake. The message also outlines a busy upcoming lineup that includes a new Space Marine project and an announced John Wick game.
While community members should treat unverified leaks with a healthy dose of caution, a 2028 target aligns with the extensive development reboot the project required. Saber has largely kept its cards close to its chest regarding the remake, but as the studio transitions toward independent publishing, players can expect more concrete updates. For now, the prospect of returning to this classic universe with modern cross-platform technology remains on the horizon.
