New Nvidia Drivers Bring Back PhysX Support and Optimize Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7

Nvidia's latest driver update brings back PhysX support for RTX 50-series cards, optimizes performance for Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7, and patches out Windows performance regressions.

Nvidia has rolled out its latest GeForce Game Ready driver, addressing several major pain points for PC players. Version 591.44 finally reintroduces PhysX acceleration for RTX 50-series graphics cards, fixing the severe performance drops that previously plagued titles relying on legacy 32-bit particle and cloth physics. While these current generation GPUs launched without dedicated hardware for older PhysX features, this new update brings back support on a game-by-game basis, meaning classics like the Batman Arkham series and Borderlands 2 are finally running properly again.

Beyond legacy support, the fresh driver drop delivers targeted performance passes for heavy hitters like Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The timing lines up with Battlefield 6 preparing for its upcoming Winter Offensive update, prompting Nvidia to squeeze extra stability and frame rates out of the shooter ahead of the new content drop on December 9th. Black Ops 7 also receives specific ray tracing adjustments, ensuring high-end rigs stay locked in during intense multiplayer sessions.

Crucially, this update also bakes in the necessary fixes to undo performance regressions introduced by an October Windows update. That particular Microsoft patch inadvertently halved frame rates in heavy hitters like Assassin's Creed Shadows for many players, making this driver installation a mandatory download for anyone looking to claw back lost performance.
