Titan Comics is releasing Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning Vol. 1 on September 29, collecting four issues of the graphic novel series into a single volume for lore fans.
For players waiting on a new entry in the iconic action role-playing franchise, a brand-new Dark Souls release is officially locked in for September 29. Titan Comics is launching Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning Vol. 1, which collects the first four issues of the graphic novel series into a single 112-page book priced at $17.99. Written by George Mann with art from Maan House, the story follows a desperate knightly order searching for a lost soul to save a decaying world.
While the announcement brings fresh lore for the community, it also highlights the ongoing drought for interactive entries in the series. FromSoftware has not released a new mainline title since Dark Souls 3 in 2016 or a remaster since 2018, having largely shifted its focus toward massive open-world hits like Elden Ring. Even so, the expanded universe remains active, with Yen Press also dropping Dark Souls: Redemption Vol. 3 on September 22 for readers wanting to dive deeper into the grim fantasy setting.
As the genre continues to evolve across console and PC, fans looking for their next challenge can at least expand their digital and physical bookshelves. Whether FromSoftware ever returns to the franchise in game form remains to be seen, but the enduring appetite for the universe proves that the community is always ready to explore more dark fantasy lore.
