Epic Games is bringing classic Millennial internet nostalgia to Fortnite, with Neopets' iconic Aisha character arriving as a Sidekick cosmetic on July 2.
Fortnite continues its evolution into the ultimate digital metaverse, with Epic Games confirming that the iconic virtual pet Aisha from Neopets is joining the island on July 2. According to the original report by Michael McWhertor over at Polygon, the classic creature is expected to arrive as part of the game's growing lineup of Sidekick cosmetics. As digital pets go, Aisha brings a heavy wave of late nineties and early noughties internet history to current matches, tapping straight into the childhood memories of players who spent hours feeding and caring for their virtual companions on family computers.
Since Epic Games introduced Sidekicks back in November, the cosmetic slot has expanded to feature everything from traditional dogs and cats to massive pop culture crossovers like SpongeBob SquarePants, Adventure Time, and The Simpsons. For the current generation of cross-platform players, these little companions have become a staple way to customize loadouts and show off personal style on Twitch and in-game lobbies alike. Bringing in Neopets proves once again that Epic knows exactly how to mine gaming history for high-engagement collaborations that span multiple generations of players.
This crossover is just the latest milestone in a broader revitalization effort by World of Neopia, which took over the brand in 2023. Alongside the Fortnite integration, the team has been busy bringing back classic Flash games and launching a new trading card game. While the exact V-Bucks price tag for Aisha remains under wraps until the drop next month, Millennials and longtime fans are already clearing out some inventory space and getting their accounts ready.
