Naughty Dog Welcomes Back a Familiar Face for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Veteran actor Robin Atkin Downes has joined the cast of Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, bringing his long history with the studio to its new sci-fi project.

Naughty Dog has been mostly quiet about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet since its reveal at the 2024 Game Awards, but the upcoming sci-fi adventure is finally showing signs of life. Actor Robin Atkin Downes recently shared on social media that he has joined the cast of the project, posting a lighthearted video of himself suited up in motion capture gear. Downes is no stranger to the studio, having a history of memorable roles that stretches all the way back to 2007 with the original Uncharted.

Fans of Naughty Dog will easily recognize Downes from his past work across the studio's heaviest hitters. He played antagonist Atoq Navarro in Drake's Fortune, alongside roles in Uncharted 2, 3, and 4, plus The Last of Us. Because he has spent so much of his career playing villains for the developer, the community is already speculating about what kind of adversary he might portray in this new universe.

Downes steps into a stacked ensemble cast that already features Tati Gabrielle as the lead bounty hunter Jordan, alongside Kumail Nanjiani, Tony Dalton, Ashley Scott, and Troy Baker. According to reporting from Polygon, director Neil Druckmann has teased that the game will trade traditional Naughty Dog gunplay for hack-and-slash combat inspired in part by Elden Ring. That shift in gameplay direction, paired with a setting centered around a dominant sci-fi religion, makes Intergalactic one of the most intriguing upcoming releases on the horizon.
