Veteran voice and performance capture actor Robin Atkin Downes has confirmed his involvement in Naughty Dog's upcoming sci-fi adventure, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Downes shared the news on social media alongside a clip of himself in a performance capture rig bearing a Naughty Dog patch, signaling that filming on the project is actively underway. Having previously lent his talents to foundational studio pillars like Uncharted and The Last of Us, Downes joins an already stacked ensemble that includes Tati Gabrielle, Tony Dalton, Merle Dandridge, and Troy Baker.
Details surrounding the secretive project remain scarce since its initial reveal at The Game Awards in 2024. Creative director Neil Druckmann has positioned the game as the studio's most expansive, ambitious, and expensive undertaking to date. The production timeline also helps explain the prolonged gap since Naughty Dog's last major release, as a significant portion of the development team spent years working on the now-cancelled multiplayer project based on The Last of Us before transitioning over to Intergalactic.
While fans eager for gameplay updates were left wanting after a recent absence from PlayStation showcases, ongoing cast reveals keep community speculation alive. Given that the studio is still actively filming performance capture, a release date is likely still a ways off. For players tracking modern narrative blockbusters, watching how Naughty Dog pivots from grounded apocalyptic drama to an expansive sci-fi universe remains one of the industry's most compelling storylines.
