Monster Hunter Wilds Patch 1.042 Brings Event Quests Offline and Preps for Demo Saves

Capcom's upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds patch 1.042 makes rotating Event Quests playable offline and adds support for upcoming Prologue Demo save transfers.

Capcom is rolling out a much-needed quality of life update for Monster Hunter Wilds. Patch 1.042 is scheduled to arrive on August 4, and it brings a major change by making the game's rotating Event Quests and Challenge Quests playable offline. Previously, these weekly live service missions required a constant internet connection to access. That locked out solo players from grabbing rare upgrade materials and tackling some of the game's toughest encounters. When the patch drops, all 25 currently available event quests can be accepted offline, though they will still follow the usual limited time rotation schedule. To keep things organized, the in-game Quest Counter is getting an interface tweak to display active rotations right at the top.

Along with the offline quest changes, the upcoming patch adds support for save data transfers originating from the upcoming Prologue Demo. Set to launch across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S just a day after the patch, the demo will let players get a head start before buying the full game. Capcom has confirmed that progress from the demo can be carried over directly into the main release, provided you do not already have existing save data on your platform of choice.

This update arrives at a crucial time for the community. While Monster Hunter Wilds was a massive commercial hit at launch, it suffered from a sharp drop in concurrent players on Steam and a mixed reception regarding performance and overall gameplay challenge. Capcom has spent the last several months working to turn public sentiment around, especially following news of the upcoming Ascendance expansion. Giving solo players full access to timed content without requiring network connectivity is a step in the right direction for player agency and long term game preservation.
