Wonderful Neoran Valley, an upcoming indie game blending creature collection with roguelite mechanics, blew past its Kickstarter goals in minutes and has raised over $700K from thousands of backers.
The creature collector genre is getting a fascinating new twist. A fresh indie title called Wonderful Neoran Valley is taking off online, combining monster-taming mechanics inspired by games like Pokémon and Palworld with the tactical roguelite gameplay loops found in hits like Balatro and Slay the Spire. The project completely shattered expectations by reaching its one hundred thousand dollar funding goal in just ten minutes, doubling that amount ten minutes later, and currently sitting well past seven hundred thousand dollars with thousands of backers on board.
Developed as a horror-tinged monster collector experience, the game casts players as the Knight, a clairvoyant character capable of predicting enemy moves. Players must convince various creatures called Neorans to join their cause, fight alongside them, and help uncover the dark secrets hidden within the valley. Launching with at least seventy distinct creature designs that blend animal and plant life, the roster includes standout creations like the cosmic owl Owrion, the penguin pear hybrid Pero, and the bat creature Chugaloo.
With most of its initial stretch goals already unlocked, the campaign still has the entire month left to run. Remaining stretch goals include French and Spanish localization at eight hundred thousand dollars and full voiceover work if funding reaches one million dollars. Given the current momentum and heavy community interest across social channels, hitting those final milestones looks very achievable for the development team.
