Missed Out on the Retro PlayStation Gear? Second Chance Incoming (But There's a Catch, Mate!)

Sony's giving PlayStation fans in select regions a second shot at the 30th Anniversary Collection, but scalpers and regional availability might make it another controller-hunting bloodbath, but here's hoping they've got plans to avoid this!

Right, listen up, PlayStation aficionados! Remember that sweet, sweet 30th Anniversary Collection with the PS1-inspired design? Yeah, the one that vanished faster than a health potion in a boss fight? Well, word on the street (or, more accurately, official PlayStation channels) is that a restock is coming! But, as always, there's a catch.

Game Rant (cheers to them for spotting this!) reports that Sony is giving select regions another crack at nabbing the limited-edition DualSense Wireless Controller, the PS5 Digital Edition Console Bundle, and even the PlayStation Portal. Think of it as a rewind button on your purchasing regrets. However, this isn't a global do-over.

So, where's the love, then? According to PlayStation's announcement, Canada, the UK, Australia, Ireland, France, Italy, New Zealand, and Japan are on the lucky list. The US? Well, things are a bit murkier. There was a fleeting glimpse of hope thanks to a now-deleted post mentioning a DualSense restock, but Sony hasn't officially confirmed anything. Fingers crossed for our American cousins, eh?

Each region has its own restock date, so you'll want to keep your eyes peeled. For instance, Canada's getting theirs on September 9th, with pre-orders kicking off on July 23rd. The UK is set for September 29th, with pre-orders also starting on July 23rd. If you're a PS Plus subscriber in the UK or France, you might even get early access to pre-orders on July 21st. Worth it to avoid the digital scrum, wouldn't you reckon?

Now, about those scalpers... Remember the feeding frenzy when these things originally launched? The prices went bonkers! Sony apparently clamped down in Japan by restricting purchases to active PSN accounts. Here's hoping they've got something similar in place this time around. No one wants to pay a goblin's ransom for a controller, fair dinkum?

Assuming the pricing remains the same (always a gamble, isn't it?), expect to shell out around $80 for the DualSense, $500 for the PS5 Digital Edition Bundle, and $220 for the PS Portal. Not exactly pocket change, but hey, nostalgia ain't cheap.

Whether Sony applies strict rules to prevent scalpers from ruining the fun again remains to be seen.

So, keep your eyes glued to your local PlayStation channels, and good luck snagging those retro-tastic goodies. May the odds be ever in your favor, and may your internet connection be faster than a startled wombat.
