Minecraft is updating its baby farm animals with brand-new models, chunkier textures, unique single-pixel eyes, and custom audio, available now in Bedrock previews and Java snapshots.
Mojang is rolling out a major visual refresh for Minecraft, focusing entirely on making the game's baby farm animals far more detailed and expressive. According to a recent report by Rock Paper Shotgun, eight classic baby mobs are receiving brand-new models, custom textures, and distinct single-pixel eyes that set them apart from their adult counterparts. Instead of simply scaling down the adult models as the game has done for years, the developers are introducing chunkier and more charming designs for piglets, calves, lambs, baby rabbits, and chickens.
The update also brings massive variety to domestic animals. Players will find nine distinct wolf pup variants and eleven unique kitten types roaming the landscape, alongside a batch of completely custom audio cues designed to replace the old method of simply pitching up adult animal noises. Mojang has also made name tags easier to craft by allowing players to combine paper with any metal nugget. This quality-of-life change means players can officially name their new digital companions before inevitably sending them into dangerous survival situations or testing out the game's chaotic redstone contraptions.
For players eager to check out the revamped mobs, the update is already available for testing. Bedrock Edition players can jump in by enabling previews and betas, while Java Edition crafters can access the changes through the usual snapshots. Whether you use the update to build the ultimate peaceful animal sanctuary or simply add a bit more charm to your survival world, these visual updates offer a fun reason to start a fresh world across PC, console, or mobile platforms.
